Stray Animals
The Pet Placement Center cannot take in stray animals. If you find a stray animal and live in the city of Chattanooga or Hamilton County, you may take the dog or cat to one of the following centers. This is the best way for the animal to be reunited with his/her owner. These shelters also take owner surrenders by appointment, but please understand McKamey Animal Center and the Humane Educational Society stay very full and cannot guarantee that your pet will be adopted. Unfortunately, these organizations do euthanize.

Lost/Found Pets
If this is an animal you have found, have you posted any fliers or contacted the paper or radio to try and find this animals owner? This would be your first step. Someone could be missing him. Someone may be looking for him and not realize just how far he has traveled. You may also want to have him scanned at your local vet. Many pets are microchipped. This chip number will register back to the owner. The chip company will then give you contact information for this person. There are many services on the internet where you can also post lost/found ads. Here are a few places to start.
If you are in the Chattanooga area, make sure you contact Luther at WDEF about any lost or found pets. call 423-321-6277 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 423-321-6277 end_of_the_skype_highlighting or fax 423-321-6282
